The Z-Bolt Plus is the advanced, larger sibling of the popular open-source DIY 3D printer Z-Bolt Classic. The project was developed to address the community's demand for printing larger, taller parts while retaining the signature rigid frame cut from sheet metal and a sealed passive thermal chamber. However, scaling up the physical dimensions of the printer alters the mechanical forces at play. In particular, the wider X-axis gantry amplifies the rotational forces inherent in H-Bot kinematics, requiring specific structural solutions to prevent skew and binding.
Configuring and calibrating the scaled-up Z-Bolt Plus requires aligning its dual Z-axes and setting up the AC-powered heated bed safely. Follow these eight calibration steps:
