Laser System

The BLT-S310 ships with a single or dual 500 W fiber laser (1060–1080 nm). Beam quality M²<1.1 ensures a precise focused spot for high-accuracy geometries. Maximum scan speed 7 m/s.

Scanner and Optics

Galvanometer scanner with F-theta lens; maximum speed 7 m/s. Accuracy ±0.1 mm for features up to 100 mm under standard conditions; O₂ below 100 ppm required for full accuracy on reactive alloys.

Platform and Z-Drive

250×250 mm metal build platform with 400 mm vertical travel. Precision Z-axis with industrial-class mechanical stability.

Calibration

Calibration of the BLT-S310

Laser XY Calibration

Automatic XY compensation in BLT-Soft after a test print. Recommended when switching to a material with different absorption characteristics.

Platform Levelling

5-point check (4 corners + centre); parallelism <50 µm. Particularly important for the 400 mm Z travel where small misalignment accumulates toward upper layers.

Inert Atmosphere

O₂ <100 ppm (standard); <50 ppm for Ti6Al4V and AlSi10Mg.

Common defects

Typical Defects on the BLT-S310

Gas Porosity

Cause: incorrect VED or contaminated powder. Fix: optimise P/(v×h×t); verify O₂ level and powder quality.

Cracking in Superalloys

Cause: high thermal gradient in IN718. Fix: Island/Chessboard scan with 67° rotation; consider platform heating.

Distortion and Delamination

Cause: poor support structures or suboptimal orientation. Fix: reorient in BLT-Soft or Magics; optimise supports.

Recoater Streaks (Balling).
