Wematter Gravity 2022 Mk II

The Wematter Gravity 2022 Mk II is an SLS 3D printer from Wematter with a 300 x 300 x 300 mm build volume.

Specifications

Light Engine: CO₂ laser with galvanometer scanner; wavelength ~10,600 nm.

Optics/Scanner: Galvanometer scanner with dynamic focus control; internal protective window (new in Mk II) shields optical path from powder contamination.

Platform: Vertical build chamber 300×300×300 mm; double-shielded metal frame for improved durability and thermal insulation.

Chamber/Cooling: Sealed active chamber with activated carbon + HEPA filtration; water cooling system (new in Mk II) for more efficient thermal regulation during multi-build sessions.

Build Volume: 300×300×300 mm (27 L); same footprint <1 m² as Mk I.

Precision: 0.1 mm on parts.

Calibration

Water cooling check: Verify coolant level and absence of leaks before each batch: low coolant causes laser overheating and uneven chamber temperature.

Thermal pre-heat: Allow 30–45 min for PA12 (~168–170 °C); water cooling stabilises temperature faster than Mk I air cooling.

Internal protective window: Wipe with a soft cloth before each build: contaminated optics disrupt laser homogeneity and cause surface orange peel.

Common defects

Orange peel: Contaminated protective window or non-uniform chamber temperature: clean window, check thermal distribution.

Delamination: Energy below sintering threshold: reduce scan speed in Deep Space material profile.

Warping: Cool inside chamber 6–8 h; orient flat parts at an angle to Z-axis.

Porosity: High recycled powder ratio or insufficient linear energy: reduce refresh ratio and scan speed.

What it is used for

Office / R&D: Quieter and cleaner than Mk I: suitable even for open-plan office environments.

Multi-batch PA12 production: Water cooling enables 2–3 builds per day without heat accumulation.

TPU flexible parts: Full geometric freedom without support structures.

Medical/dental prototyping: 0.1 mm precision + biocompatible powder grades.
