Farsoon eForm

The Farsoon eForm is an SLS 3D printer from Farsoon Technologies with a 250 x 250 x 320 mm build volume.

Specifications

Laser: 30 W CO₂, 10.6 µm wavelength; digital galvanometer scanner up to 7 600 mm/s.

Optics / Scanner: Digital galvo scanner; spot maintained over 250 × 250 mm build area; 3-axis dynamic focus not documented for eForm (unlike the 403P).

Platform: Vertical Z-axis build cylinder 250 × 250 × 320 mm; minimum layer 60 µm, maximum 180 µm; dimensional accuracy ±0.06 mm.

Chamber: Active sealed thermal chamber reaching 190 °C; CO₂ atmosphere standard; nitrogen purge recommended for PA11 and carbon-fiber powders.

Build Volume: 250 × 250 × 320 mm (~20 L); compact for an industrial SLS system.

Calibration

Thermal homogenisation: 45 min warm-up for PA12; 60 min in cold rooms or for TPU. All zones must stabilise within ±2 °C before starting a build.

Laser spot calibration: Burn-paper test after any optical component change; verify spot size and surface power against Farsoon material spec.

Layer and recoater: Visual check after each layer deposition pass; clean roller mechanism after every build; layer thickness 60–180 µm.

Common defects

Orange-peel surface: Uneven powder layer or suboptimal chamber temperature → clean recoater, raise zone temperature by +1–2 °C.

Warping of flat parts: Thermal gradient or rapid post-build cooling → increase cooling time, redistribute parts in the cylinder.

Porosity / incomplete sintering: Insufficient power or excessive scan speed → reduce scan speed or increase laser power.

What it is used for

R&D development: Compact cylinder + open parameters = fast iterative cycle on new materials without tying up a production machine.

Small-batch PA12/PA11 parts: ±0.06 mm accuracy for brackets, housings, fluid-system components.

TPU flexible parts: 190 °C chamber + open platform; parameter freedom unavailable on closed systems.
