The Vivedino T-REX 3 is an FDM 3D printer from Vivedino with a 700 x 700 x 900 mm build volume.

Specifications

The Vivedino T-REX 3 represents the third generation of the large-format FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) 3D printers developed by Vivedino. Engineered as the successor to the T-Rex 2+, this model refines the Independent Dual Extrusion (IDEX) concept and introduces mechanical and electrical improvements to enhance reliability, speed, and precision for professional applications.

Kinematics and Motion System (Advanced IDEX Cartesian Geometry)

The Vivedino T-REX 3 relies on a Cartesian motion system configured with an Independent Dual Extruder (IDEX) assembly on the X-axis.

Calibration

Operating the Vivedino T-REX 3 requires a systematic calibration process to align both independent print heads and verify dimensional accuracy.

  • Mechanical Z-Offset Equalization for the Dual Nozzles

To prevent the idle nozzle from scraping the active print surface, both nozzles must be calibrated to the exact same Z-height.

  • Expected result: Both T0 and T1 nozzles touch the build plate at the exact same height coordinate (with a tolerance of 0.02 mm).

Common defects

  • Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
  • Thermal Bed Warping at High Temperatures: The high-power AC bed heater warms the aluminum plate rapidly, but the temperature differential can cause the plate to bow (up to 0.35 mm) when heated to 100 °C. While the BLTouch compensates for this, it can affect the dimensional accuracy of large prints. Solution: Allow the bed to sit at printing temperature for 15 minutes to equalize before printing.

What it is used for

Best use-cases

  • Large-Scale PLA/PETG Prototyping: Ideal for printing large housings, architectural models, and functional mockups in one piece.
  • Multi-Material Prints with Soluble Supports: The IDEX system and nozzle wipers enable clean prints of complex geometries using water-soluble PVA support structures.
