The Rigid3D Mucit2 is an FDM 3D printer from Rigid3D with a 150 x 150 x 150 mm build volume.

Specifications

As the successor to the highly popular Turkish DIY kit, the Rigid3D Mucit2 (translated as "Inventor 2") was developed to address user feedback regarding assembly difficulty, structural wobble, and cable management. While preserving the compact print footprint of its predecessor, the Mucit2 introduces key refinements to its kinematics and electronics architecture, transitioning from a raw DIY kit aesthetic to a more polished, commercial-grade desktop machine.

  • Hotend: The printer uses a single-extruder system configured with either a direct-drive or optimized Bowden path depending on the batch version.

Calibration

Achieving precise results with the Rigid3D Mucit2 requires a structured calibration process. Follow these eight steps to fine-tune your machine:

  • Z-Axis Shaft Alignment:

Ensure that the Z-axis vertical linear shafts are perpendicular to the Y-axis base frame. Use a machinist's square and measure the height of the X-axis gantry from the bed plate on both the left and right sides.

Common defects

  • Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
  • Linear Bearing Slack (LM8UU Bearings):
  • Symptoms: Slighter rattling during fast movements along the X and Y axes, leading to fine horizontal lines on printed walls.
  • Cause: Cheap linear bearings that wear down and develop play along the linear shafts after a few months of intense use.

What it is used for

Best use-cases

What it prints well:

  • PLA Enclosures and Brackets: Great for printing small electronics cases, sensor mounts, and mechanical levers.
  • STEM Class Projects: Safe and easy to use for educational PLA models, gears, and structural frames.
  • TPU Components: The direct-drive extruder handles flexible TPU filaments well, provided speed is kept low.
