Calibration

  • Start with a clean mechanical baseline before chasing slicer changes.

Action: Power the printer off, inspect the motion axes by hand, and verify that the carriage moves smoothly through the full X/Y travel without binding. Check that belts are neither visibly slack nor guitar-string tight, and confirm that the nozzle assembly is secure and not wobbling relative to the carriage.

Common defects

  • Stock extruder weakness and inconsistent filament grip: A user-reported upgrade path describes the stock extruder as “an utter piece of cr.p” and replaces it with a Bondtech BMG extruder, implying that extrusion consistency may be a practical weak point on at least some units.

Symptoms: Clicking, intermittent under-extrusion, inconsistent line width, and trouble maintaining steady flow during long prints.
