Farsoon 403P (HS403P)

The Farsoon 403P (HS403P) is an SLS 3D printer from Farsoon Technologies with a 400 x 400 x 450 mm build volume.

Specifications

Laser: CO₂ laser, 10.6 µm wavelength; power varies by variant (standard SS403P, high-speed HS403P, high-temperature HT403P).

Optics / Scanner: 3-axis dynamic focus with digital galvanometer; scan speed up to 15 200 mm/s on HS403P; consistent spot maintained over 400 × 400 mm build area.

Platform: Vertical Z-axis build cylinder 400 × 400 × 450 mm; layer thickness 60–200 µm; accuracy per industrial SLS specification.

Chamber: 8-zone heating system with intelligent thermal control; SS/HS403P up to ~190 °C; HT403P up to 220 °C for PA6, PA66, and PEEK; optional nitrogen atmosphere.

Build Volume: 400 × 400 × 450 mm (~72 L); HS403P production throughput 2.7 L/h.

Calibration

8-zone thermal calibration: Balance all zones to ±1.5 °C; record thermal profile for each new material.

3-axis dynamic focus: Burn-paper test at 5 points across 400 × 400 mm; spot uniform within ±5% at corners and centre.

MFR test: New batch → MFR check; deviation > 15% = reject; especially critical for recycled PA12.

Recoater: Visual check each build; counter-rotating roller bearings every 500 build-hours (HS403P).

Common defects

Orange-peel: Temperature above/below MBT or uneven layer → adjust PBT; check recoater.

Warping: Corner thermal gradient or incorrect orientation → raise margin temperature; tilt 20–30°; longer cooling.

Layer splitting: Low energy density → reduce scan speed or increase power; verify spot size.

Powder caking: Over-hot or over-long cooling → monitor cooling curve; maintain ≥ 40–50% refresh rate for PA12.

What it is used for

Serial PA12 production: 400 × 400 mm nested builds at 2.7 L/h (HS403P) → tens of thousands of small parts per day.

PA6 / PA66 prototyping: HT403P at 220 °C: required for PA6 without degradation.

TPU flexible parts: Open parameters → precise control of bulk density and shore-A hardness.
