Lasers

Two 70 W CO₂ lasers at ~10,600 nm, operating in parallel and scanning at up to 10 m/s each. The dual-laser configuration reduces cost per part by over 30% compared to single-laser systems at equivalent material.

Scanner

Dual galvanometer scanner with f-theta optics; EOSPRINT 2 automatically distributes build zones between the two lasers and maintains overlap calibration for a smooth transition between zones.

Recoater

Innovative recoater applying and compacting powder at speeds up to 0.6 m/s: significantly faster than competing systems. Ceramic blade option for abrasive powders.

Calibration

Calibration: EOS P 500

• Powder refresh and blend: Prepare powder blend at EOS-recommended ratio. For PA12, minimum 50% fresh powder; higher for PA6/PEEK. Sieve the recycled fraction. Expected: uniform layer at 0.6 m/s recoating speed. Tip: use the integrated powder management station for automated blending: manual mixing is less consistent.
• Multi-zone chamber warm-up: Run the automatic multi-zone warm-up. For PA12 ~170 °C (1–2 h); for PEEK ~300 °C (3+ h).

Common defects

Defects: EOS P 500

Warping with high-temp materials

With PA6 and PEEK (chamber temperatures 240–300 °C), thermal gradients are more dramatic and deformation risk is higher. Fix: place border sacrificial parts around critical components; reduce recoater speed for these materials; extend cooling time.

Inter-laser overlap lines

Visible streaks or surface texture change at the boundary between the two laser zones.
