Calibration

The mechanical layout of the Sermoon D1 requires careful alignment of its linear rods and synchronizing of its dual Z-axis motors to prevent layer banding and carriage binding.

• Carborundum Glass Bed Preparation: Wash the glass bed with warm water and liquid dish soap to strip away factory coatings and finger oils. Dry it thoroughly and wipe it down with a clean microfiber cloth saturated with 99% Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) before mounting it to the bed brackets.

Common defects

• Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
• Z-Axis Sag and Desynchronization: Due to the dual independent motors lacking a mechanical link (like a top timing belt), one Z-axis motor can drop slightly when the printer is turned off, tilting the bed.
• Symptom: Inconsistent first layers, nozzle scraping the bed on one side, and binding in Z-axis movements.
