K1C

The K1C is an FDM 3D printer from Creality with a 220 x 220 x 250 mm build volume.

Specifications

• Hotend: The K1C features a newly engineered hotend that integrates a proprietary "Unicorn" nozzle. This is a monolithic structure combining the nozzle tip and the thermal barrier (heatbreak) into a single piece. By eliminating internal threaded joints, Creality has effectively solved the common issue of plastic leakage at high volumetric flow rates. The heatbreak is made of a titanium alloy to minimize heat creep, while the nozzle itself features a copper alloy body with a hardened steel tip. It is rated for temperatures up to 300°C and is heated by a high-power 60W cylindrical ceramic element, which can heat the nozzle from room temperature to 200°C in under 40 seconds.

Calibration

To achieve industrial precision and pristine surface quality, follow these 8 calibration steps:

• CoreXY Belt Tension Calibration:
• Action: Ensure the X and Y drive belts have identical tension to prevent dimensional skewing (e.g., oval-shaped holes) and ghosting. Loosen the tensioner bolts at the rear, manually move the carriage across the entire travel range, and then re-tighten the bolts.

Common defects

• Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
• Symptom: Vertical Fine Artifacts (VFAs) on flat walls.
• Cause: Belt vibration and motor cogging from the X/Y stepper motors, typically occurring within the 50–120 mm/s speed range.
• Solution: Adjust outer wall print speed to either >150 mm/s (where speed hides the VFA) or <40 mm/s.
• Symptom: Filament jams when printing TPU or soft materials..
