HALOT-MAGE

The HALOT-MAGE is an LCD 3D printer from Creality with a 228 x 128 x 230 mm build volume.

Light Engine

The HALOT-MAGE uses a 10.3-inch 8K monochrome LCD with 33,177,600 total pixels: effectively 33 megapixels for UV photopolymer printing. XY resolution: 29.7 µm, comparable to the Phrozen Sonic Mighty 8K (28 µm) and Elegoo Saturn 2 (28.5 µm).

Illumination

An integral parallel UV LED array provides uniform illumination across the full 228×128 mm build area, reducing corner shadowing common in point-source UV configurations.

Platform

Aluminium build plate (228×128 mm) with manual 4-point levelling. The flip-top cover opens to only 1/4 of its own height: compact footprint for benchtop use.

Calibration

Bed Levelling

With a 228×128 mm platform, test levelling at 5 points: four corners and the centre. Larger plates are more sensitive to micro-tilt.

Bottom Exposure for 8K

8K panels transmit less UV light per pixel than 4K; expect ~10–15% longer Bottom Exposure times. Start at 40–55 s with 6 base layers for standard resins.

Lift Distance and Lift Speed

Use a Lift Distance of 7–8 mm and Lift Speed of 40–60 mm/min for the 228×128 mm XY footprint.

Common defects

Suction Cupping

The larger build area amplifies vacuum forces on lift. Tilt parts 45° or add 2–4 mm drainage holes in the slicer.

Undercure

8K panels pass less UV per pixel than 4K: increase Normal Exposure Time when switching to a new resin.

Warping

Add a raft and increase Bottom Layers to 8–10 for broad flat parts.

FEP Degradation

The larger vat area accelerates FEP wear: inspect every 20–25 litres of resin.

Miniatures and Figurines

29.7 µm XY captures fur, fabric, and fine facial features on 32–54 mm figures.

Dental Models

Large XY field + 8K accuracy = ideal for batch production of orthodontic arches in a single run.

Detailed Prototypes

Suitable for enclosures, connectors, and miniature mechanisms requiring tolerances under 0.1 mm.
