AI 3D model generator for mechanical parts: from dimensions or a photo
Describe the part with dimensions, for example a plate 80x40x5 mm with four M5 holes, or upload a photo with one known dimension. The AI assistant EDi Constructor models it and gives you an STL for printing and the model code, plus a PNG preview when it renders. It suits simple mechanical parts, not figurines or faces. The screen and answers are in Bulgarian.
Part of Ultra, 39 EUR a month, with 1500 credits each month.
- STL for printinga model in mm that you turn in the work area
- Photo up to 8 MBJPEG, PNG or WebP, with one known dimension
- A check after buildingthe assistant reads the STL analysis and builds again on a problem
- Up to 3 files per buildSTL, PNG preview and the model code
What text to STL gives you for a 3D print
Text to STL means turning a description with dimensions into a file you can 3D print. EDi Constructor is an AI assistant on EduFacturing for plates, boxes, brackets, bushings, adapters and holders: it models the part, reads the analysis of its own model and gives an STL, the model code and, when it renders, a PNG preview.
Part of the Ultra plan. One question costs 30 credits; credits are shared by all assistants, so 1500 a month cover 50 questions only if you spend them nowhere else. If a request fails with no file, the credits are returned; a clarifying question also spends credits.
What the assistant does with your description
Builds from a description with dimensions
With full dimensions the assistant is instructed to write a short plan and model at once; with key dimensions missing, to suggest values and ask one question.
Estimates dimensions from a photo
You upload a photo with one known dimension, for example “the long side is 60 mm”. The assistant is instructed to estimate the others from the proportions; you get a rough approximation, not an exact copy. Without a scale it asks.
Reads the analysis and corrects the model
After building it gets the analysis of its own STL: closed mesh, smallest dimension, bounding box. It is instructed to correct problems, up to twice.
Hands over the files
An STL for printing, the model code and a PNG preview when it renders. The screen also offers a next step: a check with EDi DFAM Review (15 credits) or a quote (20 credits).
When to ask for a model from a description or photo
It fits simple mechanical parts that you need as a file for printing.
A plate with holes
“A plate 80x40x5 mm with 4 M5 holes in the corners” (translated screen example).
A box with a lid
“A small box with a lid 60x40x25, wall 2 mm” (translated screen example).
A bushing or spacer
“A spacer bushing: outer 10, inner 5.2, height 8” (translated screen example).
A rough model of a spare part
You photograph the part and give one dimension: the others are estimated from the proportions and marked as approximate.
How the assistant builds the model and reads its analysis
The assistant fills in a scheme of shapes and the code is generated from it; it is told to write OpenSCAD directly only for complex curves. The steps below are instructions, not code checks.
A scheme of shapes
Six kinds: box, cylinder, extruded and revolved profile, hole, rib; added or subtracted, sized in mm.
A realistic look
Rounding of 2 to 3 mm on plates and covers, a 0.5 mm chamfer on bolt holes and 0.5 to 1 mm on bushings and shafts.
A collision judgment
Before building, the assistant judges whether a hole overlaps an arm, rib or wall, and moves it if needed.
Analysis after building
It reads the STL analysis (closed mesh, smallest dimension, bounding box) and corrects what is wrong, up to twice.
| Applies to | Formula | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Bolt hole M3, M4, M5, M6, M8 | 3.6, 4.7, 5.7, 6.8, 9.2 mm | diameter: ISO 273 clearance plus 0.2 mm for FDM; the radius is half; the numbers come from its instructions |
| The thresholds in the assistant's instructions | mesh not closed: overlap 0.1 mm; smallest dimension < 1.2 mm: thicken | the smallest dimension is the shortest side of the whole part, not the thickness of one wall |
The assistant reads its model's analysis after building
It reads the analysis of its own STL
After building, the assistant reads the analysis of its own STL and, on a problem, builds again.
It separates given from estimated
With a photo, the assistant is instructed to separate your dimensions from the estimated ones at the end.
It is told to be honest about organic shapes
Figures, faces and reliefs are hard for the parametric approach; the assistant is instructed to say so.
The parametric approach is for mechanical parts of simple shapes. For organic shapes the assistant is instructed to say honestly that it is limited, and for load-bearing parts (suspension, pressure) to recommend an engineering check.
You get an STL (a mesh), a PNG and OpenSCAD code, not a STEP or other editable CAD file. A change (“add a hole”) is a new question and costs 30 credits again.
The check looks at the smallest dimension of the whole part, not the thickness of one wall: check the walls in the slicer. The screen and answers are in Bulgarian and may contain mistakes.
Questions about a 3D model from a description
How to make a 3D model for 3D printing from a description?
Describe the part with dimensions in mm, for example “a plate 80x40x5 mm with 4 M5 holes”. The assistant models it and gives an STL, the model code and, when it renders, a PNG preview.
How to make a 3D model from a photo with measurements?
Upload a photo and give one dimension, for example “the long side is 60 mm”. The assistant estimates the rest from the proportions: a rough approximation, not an exact copy. Without a scale it asks.
Can I change the model afterwards?
Not as a continuation of the finished model. Every change is a new question that costs 30 credits again, and the conversation carries only message text, not the model. Describe the whole part again, with the change.
Does it answer in English?
No. The screen and answers are in Bulgarian. In our test on 10 October 2026 an English question to a sister assistant also got a Bulgarian answer.
How much does a 3D model from a description cost?
Part of Ultra at 39 EUR a month with 1500 credits. One question costs 30 credits; credits are shared by all assistants.
The text to STL assistant is part of Ultra
Ultra costs 39 EUR a month: everything in Pro (45 tools), the EDi assistants and 1500 credits each month. Every run of an assistant spends credits.
