LASERTEC 30 DUAL SLM

The LASERTEC 30 DUAL SLM is a DMLS 3D printer from DMG Mori with a 300 x 300 x 350 mm build volume.

Specifications

Lasers: Two independent 600 W fiber lasers (1200 W total), λ=1070 nm; full access to entire build area (no dead zones).

Scanners: Two independent galvo scanners with f-theta lenses; coordinated scan strategy for overlap zone.

Platform: Build plate with heater up to 200°C; Z travel 350 mm (50 mm more than single version).

Calibration

Dual-galvo synchronization: Time-delay calibration in overlap zone; CT verification after parameter changes.

Power balance L1/L2: Power meter measurement; difference < 2% between lasers.

Inert atmosphere: O₂ < 500 ppm; increased gas flow (+20-30%) for dual-laser fume.

Leveling 350 mm Z: 9-point measurement; repeat for builds > 200 mm in height.

Common defects

Seam defects in overlap zone: Timing/power asymmetry → recalibrate galvo synchronization + CT test.

Fume contamination: Dual-laser generates 2× more fume → increase gas flow; clean optics more frequently.

Gas porosity: Excessive VED in dual mode → optimize parameters independently from single version.

Recoater damage: Lifted parts → in-situ camera monitoring; automatic pause on anomalies.

What it is used for

Aerospace series: Ti-6Al-4V and Inconel components in batches of 50–500 parts with 80% shorter cycle time.

Motorsport: AlSi10Mg and SS316L complex geometry parts for racing applications.

Medical batch: Orthopedic Ti implants with higher throughput.

Tooling: Conformal cooling mold inserts with shorter lead time.
