A personal filament list: price, color, rating and print settings

A filament database that you fill in yourself: save each material with its maker, color, price per kilogram, rating and print settings, search the list and compare two materials. There is no ready data on materials. The screen is in Bulgarian.

Filament database: what it is and what it is not

A filament database is a list of the materials you really use, with the settings that gave a good print. The EduFacturing one is empty until you fill it: it has no built-in material properties.

For each material you save maker, model, type, color, diameter, price per kilogram, rating and notes, with the print settings next to it. You find it with search and a filter, and two materials are compared side by side.

What you save for each material

Saves the material with its price and rating

Maker, model, type (13 kinds from PLA to 316L, plus your own), color, diameter 1.75 or 2.85 mm, price in euros per kilogram, a rating from 1 to 5 stars and notes.

Keeps the settings that worked

Six fields: extruder temperature, bed temperature, speed in mm/s, retraction in mm, retraction speed and cooling in percent. You can also add your own key and value pairs.

Searches, filters and sorts

Search by maker, model, color, type and notes. Filter by type, and the sort button cycles the order by maker, price, type and rating.

Compares two materials side by side

The compare button appears with at least two entries. You see type, diameter, price and rating, and the lower price is green. The expanded table shows the settings too.

How to organize your filaments: when you need the database

The database is for someone who prints with several materials and does not want their settings to live only in their head.

  • You print with several filaments

Note which settings gave a good print with which material before you forget them.

  • You choose between two spools

Compare two materials by price, rating and the saved settings.

  • A small workshop

Keep the price per kilogram and the notes for every material in one searchable list.

How materials are kept and found

The database has no calculations: it is a list you fill and read. This is how materials are kept and found.

  1. You add a material

The add button opens a form. A save needs at least a maker or a model.

  2. The entry stays in the browser

The list is kept in the browser on this device. On another device, or after the browser data is cleared, it is empty.

  3. You search, sort and compare

Search and the filter work on what you saved, and a comparison needs at least two materials.

  4. The save button sends a summary to the library

The save button writes type, maker, model, color, diameter and price to your personal library. The rating, notes and settings are not copied. A free account holds up to 50 saved items; when the library is full you see an error message.

The settings sit next to the material

  • The settings sit next to the material

Temperatures, speed, retraction and cooling are saved with the material, not in a separate file.

  • The price is in euros per kilogram

The field is in euros per kilogram, and the comparison colors the lower price.

  • No borrowed numbers that go stale

The database has no built-in values: everything you see, you wrote.

What the filament database does not do

The database is empty until you fill it: there is no ready data on properties, temperatures or prices of materials. It does not track the quantity or what is left on a spool, and it has no import or export.

The list is kept only in the browser on this device and does not move between devices. Sorting only goes in ascending order, so by rating the lowest come first. The diameter is 1.75 or 2.85 mm even for resins and metals. The screen is in Bulgarian only.

Questions about a filament database

How to organize filament?

In the database: add each material with maker, model, type, color, diameter, price and rating, then find it with search, a filter by type and sorting. It does not help with shelves or storage boxes.

How to store print settings for filament?

When you add or edit a material, fill in six fields: extruder and bed temperature, speed, retraction, retraction speed and cooling. You add your own settings as a key and a value.

Where is my list of materials stored?

In the browser on this device. On another device the list is empty. The save button copies a summary, without the rating, notes and settings, to your personal library; a free account holds up to 50 items.

How to compare filaments?

Add both to your list. The compare button appears with at least two entries: pick two and you see type, diameter, price and rating, and the expanded table shows the settings too.

Does the database come with material data?

No. It is empty until you add your own material. It is for your filaments, not a reference of properties.

Is the screen available in English?

No. The form, the buttons and the empty-state text are in Bulgarian only. The material types and the numbers need no translation.

How much does the filament database cost?

It opens with a free account, and registration is free. You do not need Pro for it.

The filament database opens with a free account. Pro opens the rest

Pro costs 15 EUR a month and opens 45 Pro tools.
