Convert JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC photos and reduce their size

Drop in photos and get WebP, JPEG, PNG or ICO at the size and file weight in KB you need. Hidden data such as GPS leaves the file. Nothing is uploaded: it all runs in your browser.

What an image converter does with JPG, PNG and WebP

An image converter changes a photo from one format to another: JPG to PNG, WebP to JPG, or an iPhone HEIC to JPG. The EduFacturing tool does it online and free for several files at once, reduces them and brings them down to a target weight in KB. One file downloads directly, several come as a ZIP, and PNG or JPEG results can become a PDF.

Nothing is uploaded: everything runs in your browser. Only for HEIC, if the browser cannot read it, a small reader program is downloaded.

What this online image converter does

Changes the format and size of a photo

Output as WebP, JPEG, PNG or ICO. Size by long side (1600 px by default), width, height or percentage, with the ratio kept; enlarging stays off until you allow it. ICO is square, from 16 to 256 px: the size modes do not apply, and a non-square picture is stretched, so crop it 1:1 first.

Crops and straightens a photo

Six ratios (1:1, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, 9:16, 8:5) and five anchors: the frame is cut from the centre or keeps the top, bottom, left or right edge. It is the largest that fits, with no black bars. Phone photos are straightened by EXIF orientation.

Reduces a photo to a target size in KB

A ceiling from 5 to 20,000 KB: for WebP and JPEG the tool looks for the highest quality that fits. If even the lowest is over the ceiling, it says so.

Removes GPS and other hidden data

Re-encoding writes the file afresh, so no EXIF (camera, date and place data) is carried over. The metadata-only mode cuts EXIF, XMP and comments out of JPEG, PNG, WebP and GIF files without touching the pixels. For JPEG and WebP the tool shows the kinds of data, not the values; for HEIC and AVIF its search is approximate.

When you need to convert or reduce an image

Size, format and hidden data decide where a photo can go.

  • Photos for a website or shop

One photo in widths of 400, 800 and 1600 px for different screens. Product photos can carry a watermark.

  • A photo under a set number of KB

A form or portal wants a file under a set number of KB: enter the ceiling and get the highest quality that fits.

  • A photo without GPS and personal data

Before a phone photo goes into a listing, you see what it carries: device model, date, GPS coordinates.

  • A site icon (ICO) and a PDF

A logo becomes a .ico from 16 to 256 px, and several pictures can go into a PDF on A4, A5, A3, Letter or at their own size.

How image size and file weight change

Pixels are width times height: halving the long side leaves a quarter of the pixels.

  1. The format is recognised

The format is read from the first bytes, not from the extension: JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, WebP, AVIF, HEIC or SVG. If the browser refuses a HEIC file, a built-in reader takes over.

  2. Size and watermark

The new size is in whole pixels, never below 1 px. The watermark goes on after resizing, so it is a percentage of the output picture.

  3. Saving and weight

Quality is 82% by default. A weight search makes at most 7 trial encodes, then writes the file at the chosen quality.

What the tool calculates
Applies toFormulaMeaning
New sizescale = N / max(W, H)W and H are the frame size; for width N / W, for height N / H, for a percentage N / 100; above 1 it becomes 1 unless enlarging is allowed
Target weightq = (lower + upper) / 2q₁ = 0.80; while nothing fits, q drops by 0.20 down to 0.30; lower is the highest quality that fit, upper the lowest that did not (bounds 0.30 and 0.97); stops at an interval of 0.02 or after 7 trials

Convert images without uploading them

  • A heavy result is not hidden

A heavier output carries a + sign and gets its own card. If the target cannot be met, the tool says so instead of returning the heavy file silently.

  • Metadata can go without re-encoding

For JPEG, PNG, WebP and GIF the pixels are copied byte for byte, so quality does not drop.

What this image converter cannot do

Cropping is by ratio and anchor only; there is no dragging a frame. AVIF is read if the browser supports it, but it is not an output format. Only the first frame of a GIF is re-encoded, so the animation is lost.

HEIC and AVIF metadata is not removed without re-encoding: the file comes out unchanged, and in the archive its name gets a not-cleaned mark. A watermark marks authorship, it does not protect against theft.

Questions about converting and reducing images

How to reduce image size?

For fewer pixels set a smaller long side, width, height or percentage. For fewer KB turn on the option that searches for a quality that fits a weight, enter a ceiling from 5 to 20,000 KB and choose WebP or JPEG.

How to convert webp to jpg?

Drop in the WebP file, choose JPEG as the output and re-encode. JPEG has no transparency: transparent areas turn white. The tool suggests WebP for photos and PNG for a drawing or logo with up to about 256 colours and no transparency.

How to convert a photo to PDF?

Choose PNG or JPEG as the output, re-encode and press Download as PDF. The page is A4, A5, A3, Letter or the size of the picture. WebP does not go into a PDF.

How to remove GPS from photos?

Re-encode to WebP, JPEG or PNG: EXIF is not carried over. Or turn on the metadata-only mode, which leaves the pixels alone.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything runs in the browser, and the picture is never sent to a server.

How much does the image converter cost?

It is free. The tool opens without an account 3 times a day, and a free account removes the limit.

The image converter and resizer is free. Pro opens the rest

Pro costs 15 EUR a month and opens 45 Pro tools.
