Gridfinity generator: a baseplate sized to your drawer, plus bins for it
Enter the size of your drawer and get a baseplate that fits it; choose the bins in cells, following Gridfinity, a modular storage system: a 42 mm grid and heights in 7 mm steps. You download STL or 3MF. The tool opens in Bulgarian; the EN button at the top right switches it to English.

What a Gridfinity generator is and what it makes
A Gridfinity generator makes the two parts of a modular organizer: a baseplate and the bins that sit in it. AM Organizer from EduFacturing, part of Pro, builds them to Gridfinity sizes: 42 mm cells, bins in 7 mm height steps and a lip on top for stacking.
You do not need modelling software: you choose the part, set the sizes and see the model in 3D. The print files are made in your browser.
The Part tab makes one part, and the Tray tab places several bins on a shared baseplate.
What the drawer organizer generator does
Makes bins in cells
From 1 to 10 cells on each side and 2 to 15 steps of height. Up to 6 compartments in each direction, a rounded floor, a label tab, text, and holes for magnets or screws.
Makes a baseplate to your drawer
Enter a width and depth up to 600 mm and get the largest grid that fits, with a border that fills up to the exact size. The plate is flat, weighted, skeletonized or screw-together.
Makes 13 more kinds of part
The Honeycomb wall mode (a wall panel), a vase, dividers, a card holder, a screw jar, a tray to any size, a tool case, a label, a 2020 profile bracket, a pegboard hook (beta: the fit on a real board has not been checked), a shadow board, a custom grid and a nest traced from a photo.
Checks the print and downloads the file
Shows the volume, the size and a printability score from 0 to 100. You download a binary STL or a 3MF; on export the part can be turned for fewer overhangs (the Auto-orient on export checkbox).
When you need bins and a baseplate for your drawer
You need an organizer to size when ready-made bins do not fit your drawer, shelf or desk.
An organizer for small parts
A bin with up to 6 compartments in each direction for screws, nuts and SMD parts.
A baseplate to your drawer size
Enter the inside size and get a baseplate for 42 mm cells.
A workshop organizer
A tool case, dividers and a shadow board for a wrench, a hammer and a screwdriver.
A nest in the shape of an object
Upload a photo and get a plate or a bin with the outline of the object.
How the sizes of bins and baseplates are worked out
The sizes come from the Gridfinity rules, and the score from the print rules.
Cells of 42 mm
Size is counted in 42 mm cells, and 0.5 mm of clearance is taken off the edge: a 2 × 2 bin is 83.5 × 83.5 mm.
Steps of 7 mm
Height is counted in 7 mm steps, and the lip on top adds 4.4 mm: a bin 6 steps high is 46.4 mm.
The printability score
The score is 100 minus the points taken off. The minimums are 0.8 mm for a wall and a floor and 2 mm for a hole; a 0.2 mm clearance is checked only for the Honeycomb wall mode and the pegboard hook.
| Applies to | Formula | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Bin size | size = 42 · n − 0.5 mm | n is the number of cells on that side, from 1 to 10 |
| Bin height | height = 7 · h + 4.4 mm | h is the number of steps, from 2 to 15; 4.4 mm is the lip, when it is on |
| Printability score | score = 100 − points | minus 40 for open geometry, 8 for a parameter below the minimum, 15 for overhangs above 60° or 5 for overhangs between 45° and 60° |
The baseplate fits your drawer; the part is checked
A baseplate to your drawer size in mm
You enter the size and a border fills the baseplate out to it.
Bins and a baseplate from one grid
A 42 mm cell and a 7 mm step: the parts match in size.
A print check with explanations
Why? notes next to the settings and a score that suggests a fix in mm.
The tool makes the model, not the printer settings: infill, speed and supports are set in your slicer. It does not know your print bed and does not cut a large baseplate into pieces, so check the size on the screen. The files are STL and 3MF, no STEP.
The fit with bins from other authors has not been measured on a printed part. A drawer cabinet and a wall with hooks are the separate tools Drawers and Honeycomb Wall.
Questions about the Gridfinity generator
What is Gridfinity?
A system of modular bins and baseplates: a 42 mm cell and heights in 7 mm steps. Bins sit in the baseplate cell by cell and stack with a lip on top.
How to make a custom Gridfinity bin?
Open the bin mode, set the cells on each side, the height in steps and the compartments, then add a label tab or magnet holes. The STL downloads from the band at the bottom.
How to measure a drawer for Gridfinity?
Measure the inside width and depth in mm. In the baseplate mode, enter them in the two fields for fitting to a drawer and you get the largest grid of 42 mm cells that fits.
What size can a Gridfinity bin be?
From 1 to 10 cells on each side and 2 to 15 steps of height. The smallest bin with a lip is 41.5 × 41.5 × 18.4 mm and the largest 419.5 × 419.5 × 109.4 mm. Compare with your print bed.
Is the screen in English?
Yes, after one click. The tool opens in Bulgarian; the EN button at the top right switches the whole screen to English at the same address. The modes then read Bin, Baseplate, Honeycomb wall, Extended and Custom.
How much does the Gridfinity generator cost?
It is part of Pro at 15 EUR a month. Pro also opens the other Pro tools.
