3D print problem diagnosis: upload a photo, get a likely cause and fix

Upload a photo of a failed part, or just describe the problem, and the AI assistant EDi Diagnostician suggests the defect, the cause and what to change. You get a PDF file, a PNG of your photo if you uploaded one and, when needed, a slicer profile and a test model. The screen and answers are in Bulgarian.

Part of Ultra, 39 EUR a month, with 1500 credits each month.

What a 3D print problem diagnosis is

A 3D print problem diagnosis means recognizing a defect from how it looks (stringing, a weak first layer, layer separation, warping), finding the cause and choosing a fix. EDi Diagnostician is an AI assistant on EduFacturing that does this from your photo or description and is instructed to take fixes from the defect catalog.

The screen shows a catalog under the question field: 242 defects across 29 technologies, each with a fix. The assistant also works from a description alone.

Part of the Ultra plan. One question costs 15 credits. Credits are shared by all assistants, so 1500 a month cover 100 questions only if you spend them nowhere else. If a request fails and no file comes out, the credits are returned; a clarifying question also spends credits.

What the assistant does with a failed print

Suggests a diagnosis from a photo

The assistant describes what it sees, finds the defect in the catalog and marks its place with numbered boxes on the on-screen photo. A box appears only if the assistant rates its own confidence in the location at 0.6 or more; otherwise the defect stays in the list. The downloaded PNG has no such threshold.

Gives the cause and a concrete fix

The assistant is instructed to take fixes from the defect catalog. If you name the printer and material, it is instructed to look up their parameters in the catalogs (102 printers, 33 materials) and temperatures and speeds in the EDi Brain rules.

Returns settings for your slicer

When the fix is in the settings, the PDF has a table of setting, current value and new value, and the corrected values also come as an .ini file for PrusaSlicer, SuperSlicer or OrcaSlicer.

Adds a test model and a PDF file

A calibration STL (for example a temperature tower) shows whether the fix worked. The PDF holds the diagnosis, cause and steps and, when needed, a checklist and a settings table.

When to photograph a failed print

It fits when prints keep failing and you do not know what the problem is called.

  • First printer, first failure

You write that the print is full of thin strings between the columns (a translated example from the Bulgarian screen) and get a defect name, a cause and steps.

  • A new material

A PETG part that splits in the middle, or a first layer that will not stick (translated examples from the Bulgarian screen). Name the material to get a fix for it.

  • Resin or powder, not only filament

The catalog covers 29 technologies, including DLP, LCD/MSLA, SLS and MJF, not only FDM.

  • After the diagnosis

The screen offers a next step without a new upload: EDi Slicer Tuner prepares a printer profile (10 credits).

How it reaches a diagnosis

The first step is the AI's judgment of the photo; the others look things up in catalogs and rules.

  1. Describing the symptoms

The assistant describes what is visible in the photo and proposes no fix yet.

  2. Searching the catalog

It searches by symptoms and technology. The assistant is instructed to take fixes only from there, and for an undescribed defect to offer the closest described one.

  3. Numbers from the rules

The assistant is instructed to take temperatures and speeds from the EDi Brain rules, printer and material data from the catalogs, and not to invent settings.

  4. The files

Last, it produces the PDF file and, when needed, a slicer profile and a test model.

Fixes are looked up in a catalog

  • Fixes are looked up in a catalog

The screen shows a catalog of 242 defects across 29 technologies, each with a fix. The assistant is instructed not to invent settings.

  • A test after the fix

The calibration model shows whether the fix worked before you print the next part.

  • Files, not only a chat

A PDF file, an .ini profile and a test STL download from the work area. If a request fails with no file, the credits are returned.

What a photo diagnosis cannot do

A diagnosis from a photo is an AI judgment and can be wrong: a photo does not show your printer settings. The assistant is instructed to take detailed values from the rules and catalogs or not to give them. A question clearly outside 3D printing is refused without charge, but the automatic check can miss borderline ones.

The marked photo downloads separately as a PNG; it is not placed inside the PDF. The screen and answers are in Bulgarian and may contain mistakes, so check what matters.

Questions about 3D print troubleshooting

Why is my 3D print stringing?

Retraction is the leading fix for stringing in the catalog. Upload a photo and name your printer and material to get values for your case.

Why do my 3D prints keep failing?

It depends on the defect. Upload a photo and describe the problem to get a suggested diagnosis, cause and steps.

Which files do I get?

A PDF file; a PNG of your photo if you uploaded one; an .ini profile and a test STL when the fix is in the settings.

Does it answer in English?

No. The screen and answers are in Bulgarian. In our test on 10 October 2026 an English question to a sister assistant also got a Bulgarian answer.
