From a part without a drawing to a CAD model

We make a 3D model, a toleranced 2D drawing and a dimension report from your part. You measure it, or we do.

Choose your case

What do you need the part for?

Choose one and we will tell you what we do with it.

What we do

We measure the surfaces that survived and restore the worn ones from their function, not from the worn size.

What you receive

3D model (STEP and STL), toleranced 2D drawing and dimension report.

How

Overall dimensions by caliper; free-form surfaces by Thor3D Calibry scanner.

3D printed copy: sliding clearance is 0.20 to 0.35 mm and is set for the printer.

Who measures the part

Either way you receive a 3D model, a toleranced 2D drawing and a dimension report.

I measure it

You photograph the part and measure it with a caliper. We model to your dimensions. This is the lower-cost route.

The engineer measures it

You send the part by courier or bring it to Plovdiv. We measure it by hand or with a Thor3D Calibry scanner.

What you receive

Three files to order, make and check the part. Drag the model to turn it.

3D model

STEP for any CAD software and STL for 3D printing.

Toleranced 2D drawing

Чертежът се подготвя

Three views, dimensions and a title block. This is a real drawing generated from the model itself.

What to prepare

It depends on what you have. We ask for the rest in the request.

The part is in my hand
  • The part and its mating part, if it fits an assembly
  • Which dimension matters most
I have a scan file
  • The file: STL, OBJ, PLY or 3MF
  • The units of the scan, if you know them
  • What the part must fit
Flat part
  • A photo from directly above, without tilt
  • A bank card next to the part for scale
  • One dimension you have measured
It may be standard
  • Two or three measured dimensions
  • A photo of any markings on the part
  • Where the part works
I have a 2D drawing
  • The drawing in whatever form you have it
  • Which dimensions and fits matter

Tolerances and fits

General tolerances apply to dimensions without their own tolerance. We set fits by ISO 286.

How the order goes

  1. Choose what you need the part for and send the request.
  2. Send the part by courier or bring it to Plovdiv. If you measure it yourself, send photos and dimensions.
  3. We review the part or your dimensions and send a quote. The lead time is in the quote.
  4. After your approval we make the 3D model, the drawing and the report.
  5. You receive the files: 3D model (STEP and STL), toleranced 2D drawing and dimension report.

Questions

What do I receive at the end?

A 3D model (STEP and STL), a toleranced 2D drawing and a dimension report.

Do I have to send you the part?

No. You can measure it yourself and send photos and dimensions; then we model to your dimensions. If you send it by courier or bring it to Plovdiv, we measure it.

What do you do with a worn part?

We measure the surfaces that survived and restore the worn ones from their function, not from the worn size.

I already have a 2D drawing. Is it useful?

Yes, the drawing is an input too. We confirm its tolerances in the quote.

How is the fit determined?

We also measure the mating part and choose a fit by ISO 286, such as clearance H7/g6, sliding H7/h6 or transition H7/k6.

How long does it take?

It depends on the part and is written in the quote, along with the exact price.

3D scanning technologies

What it costs

The price depends on the part and on who measures it. The exact price and lead time are in the quote, after we review the part.
