Pioneers

The summit of additive manufacturing. Expect a platform where metal printing meets industrial configurators and 3D farm management.

COURSES FOR PIONEERS

At the leading edge

Metal AM · Print farm automation · Smart QA monitoring. Three courses for the pioneers.

MET401 Pioneer

MET 401: Metal and composite printing

The highest step in additive technology. Printing with titanium (Ti-6Al-4V), Inconel (IN718), AlSi10Mg and stainless steel; high-temperature polymers (PEEK, PEI Ultem) in chambers above 250 °C; and continuous carbon, Kevlar or fiberglass for composite parts of aerospace quality. The GE LEAP engine nozzle, SpaceX SuperDraco, the Bugatti brake caliper: it is all here.

5 modules 10 lessons 20 exercises
What you will learn ↓
  • ✓The difference between Powder Bed Fusion (DMLS, SLM, EBM) and the alternatives (Binder Jetting, DED, WAAM)
  • ✓DMLS (the EOS trade name) against SLM (the generic term for full melting) against EBM (vacuum plus electron beam), and when to use which
  • ✓Metal materials for additive manufacturing: Ti-6Al-4V, Inconel 718/625, AlSi10Mg, 316L, maraging steel, CoCrMo, copper
  • ✓The physics of the melt pool, residual stress, hot cracking, keyhole porosity and lack-of-fusion porosity
  • ✓Finishing: stress relief, HIP, EDM cutting, machining, non-destructive testing (CT, ultrasound)
  • ✓High-temperature polymers: PEEK, PEI (Ultem), and the 250 to 400 °C heated chamber they need
  • ✓Composite printers with continuous carbon, Kevlar or fiberglass: Markforged Mark Two, X7, FX20
  • ✓Calculating the return on series production with metal AM against CNC, casting and forging
  • ✓Real cases: the GE LEAP nozzle, the topology-optimized BMW bracket, SpaceX SuperDraco, the Bugatti brake caliper, Stryker Tritanium implants

FARM401 Pioneer

FARM 401: Print farm automation with Klipper

From 5 printers to 5000. The Klipper and Moonraker ecosystem as an industrial farm controller. Real cases from Slant3D (over 1000 Ender printers), Bambu Lab manufacturing, Prusa Pro Farm and JLCPCB. The economics of the return, network topology, AI failure detection, and the truth about the business model.

5 modules 10 lessons 20 exercises
What you will learn ↓
  • ✓Print farm economics: when it makes sense (from 5 to 5000 printers) and how to work out the return
  • ✓Klipper architecture: host computer plus microcontroller offloading, and why it allows 60 to 300% faster printing
  • ✓A deep dive into printer.cfg: kinematics, steppers, input shaper, pressure advance, sensorless homing
  • ✓The Moonraker REST and WebSocket API for remote control of many printers and for automation
  • ✓Choosing a web interface: Mainsail against Fluidd against OctoPrint for farm operations
  • ✓AI failure detection: Obico (Spaghetti Detective), custom MobileNet and YOLO solutions
  • ✓Network topology: local-only against a cloud bridge, and VPN with Tailscale or WireGuard for remote control
  • ✓Real cases: Slant3D (1000+ Enders), Bambu manufacturing, Prusa Pro Farm, JLCPCB, and what they teach

QA401 Pioneer

QA 401: Smart quality control with AI vision, acoustics and sensors

The zero-scrap application. Why most failures can be caught minutes before they happen. Machine vision (Obico, YOLO, MobileNet), acoustic monitoring (ADXL345, FFT), thermal imaging and industrial quality systems (Cp/Cpk, AS9100, ISO 13485). Real cases from GE Aviation EOSTATE, EOS, Markforged Blacksmith, Phase3D, and medical compliance with 21 CFR Part 11.

5 modules 10 lessons 20 exercises
What you will learn ↓
  • ✓Defect types in 3D printing (spaghetti, warping, layer shift, porosity, under-extrusion) and the real cost of each failure
  • ✓Machine vision: Obico/MobileNet, a custom YOLO model, ChatGPT and Claude Vision
  • ✓Acoustic and vibration monitoring: ADXL345 accelerometers, spectral analysis with FFT, bearing defect signatures
  • ✓Thermal imaging: infrared cameras and temperature gradient analysis to predict warping
  • ✓Melt pool monitoring for metal printing: EOSTATE (EOS), SLM Solutions, Trumpf
  • ✓Industrial quality management systems: the Cp, Cpk, Pp and Ppk indices, and statistical process control (SPC)
  • ✓Regulatory frameworks: ISO 9001, AS9100 (aerospace), ISO 13485 with 21 CFR Part 11 (medical), ASTM F3303
  • ✓Real cases: GE Aviation EOSTATE, the EOS quality packages, Markforged Blacksmith, Phase3D, Stryker Tritanium inspection
