LOM (Laminated Object Manufacturing)

sheets of paper/plastic/metal glued and cut with CO₂ laser/blade. historical AM, modern revival: Impossible Objects, Mcor.

LOM (Laminated Object Manufacturing) is a Sheet Lamination process: layers of sheet (paper, plastic, metal, composite) are stacked, bonded (adhesive, ultrasonic, or thermo-fusion), and each layer outline is cut with laser or blade.

LOM is the cheapest AM process for large parts: paper feedstock at €0.50/m². Modern variants: CBAM for carbon fiber composites at scale; UAM for metal with embedded sensors and multi-material parts.
