same as FDM, different name: "FDM" is a Stratasys trademark, so the open-source community uses FFF.

FFF (Fused Filament Fabrication) is the open-source community name for the process Stratasys trademarked as FDM™. Physically identical: melted filament deposited layer by layer.

Legal reason (trademark), not technological. Used interchangeably in practice. This book treats FFF and FDM as the same technology.
