HIPS

soluble support for ABS. limonene dissolves it: full design freedom.

HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene) is a polystyrene modified with butadiene rubber for impact resistance. In 3D printing its main role is soluble support for ABS: HIPS dissolves in d-limonene (citrus solvent), leaving only the ABS part.

ABS prints with complex overhangs need supports, but breakaway supports leave marks. HIPS supports dissolve completely → clean overhang surfaces.
