What a 3D printed name plate is
A 3D printed name plate generator makes a plate with your name raised or engraved, to print in filament and fix on a door, desk or bag, or hang as a keyring. This free EduFacturing tool is a 3D studio: pick a template, a shape, a font and the sizes, and get an STL or 3MF.
The preview is not a picture: the object turning on the screen is the one you download. The plate, letters, frame and holes are united and cut into one body when everything sits on the plate; the mesh is checked for open edges and the screen shows “manifold” with a tick or their count (not the two-colour 3MF).

How the letter size and the strength check are calculated
Three steps: the letter size, building the body, the strength check.
The letter size
With Fit text the plate is yours and the letters become the largest that fit. Auto plate does the opposite, and Manual warns when the text overflows.
The body is built by uniting and cutting
The plate, letters, frame and pattern are united, while holes, magnet seats, engraving and grooves are cut out: one body when everything sits on the plate. A stand is written into the file beside it.
The strength is checked
After every change the letter height and an estimate of the stroke are calculated, and a warning appears if they are under the thresholds.

What is different about this name plate generator
The preview is the file you download
The object on the screen and the print file are one and the same.
It warns about thin and short letters
A stroke estimate under 0.8 mm (the FDM minimum wall) or letters under 3 mm give a warning.
You arrange with the mouse
You drag the text, the orange circle for the size, the hole and the loop.
Autosave and the three slots remember everything that shapes the plate except the uploaded SVG.
The QR code has a margin of 2 modules (the standard asks for 4); scanning is untested. The module warning appears only below 0.8 mm. With the QR on, some sizes (in our test: 10 and 30 mm) leave open edges: change the size. Text that is too long is not added; the screen says so. For a stricter check use QR to 3D.
Braille is letter by letter, with no contractions or punctuation; the sizes (dot 1.5 mm, height 0.6 mm) are as described in the app, and for critical use check the official table. The two-colour 3MF needs raised text.

Yes. All 13 fonts have Bulgarian letters, capital and small. A line takes up to 24 characters, and there are two lines.
How tall should the letters be?
At least 3 mm, with the stroke estimate at 0.8 mm or more: below that the tool warns. Plate thickness runs from 1 to 20 mm, 3 mm by default.
How to make a two-colour name plate?
Pick a plate colour and a text colour, keep the text Raised and press Two-colour 3MF: the plate and the text are two bodies for different filaments.
