What the calculator works out
The Bulgaria business days calculator from EduFacturing is a free online tool that counts the working days between two dates, finds the date after a given number of working days and shows the calendar of non-working days for any year from 2020 to 2099. It takes out Saturdays, Sundays, the official holidays under Article 154 of the Labour Code, carried-over days and Orthodox Easter.
The main rule is Article 154, paragraph 2 of the Labour Code (State Gazette No 105/2016, in force from 1 January 2017): when a holiday other than the Easter ones falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the first one or two working days after it are non-attendance days. The calculation runs in your browser, with no request to a server.
Working days between dates, and date plus N days
Counts working days between two dates
Both ends are counted, and if "to" is before "from" the dates are swapped. It shows working and calendar days, the holidays in the period and, up to 45 days, a day-by-day strip.
Finds the date after N working days
The start date is not counted: counting begins on the next day.
Shows the calendar of a year
For any year from 2020 to 2099 it lists holidays by month, marked official, Easter or carried over, with four figures: working days, weekend days, holidays on weekdays and carried-over days.
Shows why a day is non-working
Every holiday and carried-over day has a name. When two holidays share a date, it shows both: 6 May 2024 is St George's Day (Gergyovden) and Easter Monday.
When you need a working days calculator
A deadline in working days differs from one in calendar days whenever a weekend or a holiday falls in between.
Order and delivery deadlines
An order placed on Thursday, 9 April 2026, with a 1 working day deadline expires on Tuesday, 14 April, after Easter Monday.
Contracts with a deadline in working days
The expiry date comes from "Date + N", and the starting day is not counted.
How many working days in a year
Under Article 154, 2026 has 249 working days out of 365: 104 weekend days and 12 holidays on weekdays.
Leave across a holiday
From 6 to 17 April 2026 there are 12 calendar days, of which 8 are working days.
How working days and Easter are counted
Every day in the period is checked against three rules: Saturday or Sunday, a holiday for that year, a carried-over day. A day with none of them is a working day.
Holidays
Ten of the fixed dates in Article 154, paragraph 1 are non-working for everyone: 1 January, 3 March, 1 May, 6 May, 24 May, 6 September, 22 September and 24, 25 and 26 December. 1 November is on the list but is a non-attendance day only for schools, so the tool does not count it.
Easter
The date is calculated on the Julian calendar and moved to the Gregorian one. Good Friday, Holy Saturday, Easter and Easter Monday are non-working.
Carry-over
When a fixed holiday other than the Easter ones falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the first working day after the weekend is a non-attendance day; if both weekend days are holidays, two days are carried over.
| Applies to | Formula | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Easter on the Julian calendar | d = (19·c + 15) mod 30; e = (2·a + 4·b − d + 34) mod 7; day = (d + e + 114) mod 31 + 1 | a, b, c are the remainders of the year divided by 4, 7 and 19 |
| Shift to the Gregorian calendar | offset = 10 + ⌊(y − 1600) / 100⌋ − ⌊(y − 1600) / 400⌋ | days added to the Julian date; 13 for 2020 to 2099 |
| Working days in a year | days in the year − weekend days − holidays on weekdays | under Art. 154, for 2026: 365 − 104 − 12 = 249 |
Easter by formula, not from a table
Easter by formula
The date is calculated for each year, not taken from a table, and checked against published dates for 2024 to 2033: 5 May 2024, 20 April 2025, 12 April 2026.
It says where it stops
A reminder about Council of Ministers reschedulings sits above the tool, a year outside 2020 to 2099 triggers a warning, and a stopped count is reported in both date modes.
The tool does not know the Council of Ministers decisions that reschedule working days, for example a working Saturday against a non-working Friday. For such a deadline, check the official calendar of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy.
It calculates Article 154 only and does not know a company's internal days off. The range is 2020 to 2099 and is counted to the end. Beyond 29,586 days the count stops and the screen says so.
