What a gross to net calculator is

A Bulgaria gross to net calculator shows how much of an agreed gross salary reaches your bank account. This one from EduFacturing works out the employee's contributions and the tax and returns the net pay in euro, with the employer's full cost.

Between gross and net sit the employee's contributions and the income tax. The calculator uses 13.78% and a flat 10% tax, and asks for the month because the ceiling it uses changes in August.

Bulgaria gross to net calculator: what you get

Turns a gross salary into net pay

You enter a gross amount in euro, a month and the number of children. The net pay is shown largest, with contributions, tax and employer cost below.

Shows contributions and tax on separate lines

The calculator takes contributions at 13.78% of the insurable income and the tax at 10% of the gross salary minus contributions. Each amount has a lev equivalent at the rate 1.95583.

Applies the child tax relief

The calculator lowers the tax base by 255.65 € for one child, 511.29 € for two and 766.94 € for three or more. The relief applies only if declared to the employer.

Shows the full cost to the employer

The calculator takes the cost as the gross salary plus 18.52% and the employer's occupational accident and disease rate (TZPB, 0.40% by default), both on the lower of gross and ceiling. Change TZPB in advanced settings.

When you need a net salary from a gross one

A gross to net calculator helps when the contract figure and the bank figure must be clear before you sign.

  • Before accepting a job offer

An advert names a gross salary and you want to know what is left. Enter it and see the net pay.

  • In a salary negotiation

Try several gross figures until the net pay is what you want, and see the employer's cost.

  • For an employer or an accountant

The full cost of one employee on 2000 € gross, with a TZPB of 0.40%, is 2378.40 €.

  • A parent with children

    On 2000 € gross with 2 children the net pay is 1603.09 € instead of 1551.96 €.

How net salary is calculated in Bulgaria

The calculator works in four steps, every amount rounded to the euro cent.

  1. Insurable base

The lower of the gross salary and the ceiling: 2111.64 € to July, 2300 € from August.

  2. Employee contributions

The base times 13.78%. Above the ceiling contributions stop growing, but tax runs on the whole gross salary.

  3. Income tax

Contributions and relief come off the gross salary; 10% of the rest is the tax, or 0 if the rest is below zero.

  4. Net salary and employer cost

Net is gross minus contributions and tax. The employer's cost is gross plus the base times (18.52% plus TZPB).

What you see beside the net salary

  • Net pay and employer cost on one screen

You see the net salary and what you cost the employer: 2378.40 € on 2000 € gross.

  • The ceiling changes with the month

3000 € gross with no children gives 2438.12 € net in June and 2414.75 € in September: the calculator uses a higher ceiling from August.

  • The relief is not taken off net pay

Contributions are one line. The child relief is a separate line with no minus sign: it lowers the tax base, not the salary.

What the calculator does not cover

It works only from gross to net, not from a desired net to gross. It has one contribution rate, 13.78%, and no field for contract type, labour category, year of birth, second pension pillar, sick leave or pay supplements.

The rates and the ceiling are built into the calculator for 2026, not fetched from an official source, so it must be updated when the law changes. The result is an estimate: for a payslip or a contract, check it with an accountant.

The relief holds only if declared to the employer, and the calculator does not check your entitlement. TZPB runs from 0.4 to 1.1%: a figure outside it is calculated at the nearest limit, an empty field at 0.4%, and the screen says so.
