What a business financial health check is
A business financial health check is a few ratios worked out from a company's annual statements: does it make a profit, can it pay what it owes, how much of it is funded by its own capital. Company Dossier on EduFacturing, part of Pro, works them out from the figures you type in and sums them up in a score from 0 to 100.
The figures come from the balance sheet, the income statement and the employees note; under each numeric field the tool says where to find it.
A second section looks up a company by its EIK and shows the Commercial Register profile and public procurement history, unconnected to the analysis.
What the check shows and what the EIK lookup returns
Works out six ratios and a score from 0 to 100
After the eight required figures you see net margin, return on equity (ROE), current ratio, debt ratio, capital adequacy and revenue growth, each marked by the app's thresholds.
Puts the company in a size category
By headcount, revenue and assets the app puts the company in the micro, small, medium or large category by thresholds from the EU definition; it is not official. The size and the NACE code go into the Program Navigator link.
Looks up a company in the Commercial Register by EIK
Name, legal form, seat, scope of activity, managers, ownership, capital, beneficial owner and the years of the published statements, with a link to the register.
Shows its public procurement history
For the same EIK: contracts won (number, total value, buyers, largest, period) and contracts as a buyer, with a link to SIGMA.
When you need a company financial analysis
For an owner who wants a quick picture of their company, and for anyone checking another company by EIK.
Before you apply for funding
You see the size and the readiness marks, then open the Program Navigator with the same size and the NACE code.
Before a talk with a bank or an accountant
You see which ratio is under the app's threshold. A bank uses its own criteria.
For revenue growth
Revenue from two consecutive years gives the growth in percent.
Before a deal with another company
Type a partner's EIK and see whether it is registered or struck off and what it has won in public procurement.
How the ratios and the 0 to 100 score are worked out
The sums are ratios of two figures. The figures in the form are worked out in your browser and are not sent to a server.
Six ratios
Each ratio is one figure divided by another and gets a mark by thresholds set in the app. When the divisor is not positive, it shows No data.
A score from 0 to 100
Good weighs 1, Caution 0.5, Risk 0; the total is divided by the number of ratios with data and multiplied by 100. From 70 is Good, from 40 Caution, below 40 Risk.
Size and readiness marks
The size is by headcount, revenue and assets against three EU thresholds, without linked enterprises. The marks light up for equity and profit above zero and for liquidity that is not Risk.
| Applies to | Formula | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Net margin | profit ÷ revenue | Good from 5%, Caution from 0%, below 0% is Risk |
| Current ratio | current assets ÷ current liabilities | Good from 1.5, Caution from 1.0, below 1.0 is Risk |
| Company size | micro: headcount < 10 and revenue or assets up to 2 million | small: < 50 and up to 10 million; medium: < 250 and revenue up to 50 million or assets up to 43 million |
The figures stay with you and the sums are visible
The sums are visible and the figures stay with you
Under each ratio a line says how it is calculated, and the figures in the form do not leave your browser.
Each field says where to take it from
Each of the ten numeric fields has a note on which part of the statements it comes from.
It says when there is no data
A ratio without data shows No data, not zero, and stays out of the score.
Indicative only: the screen says the result is not a financial, accounting or legal opinion, and this page is not a tax or credit opinion. The thresholds for Good, Caution and Risk are set in the app with no named source and no difference by industry; they are no standard, and Risk is not a bank's rating.
The field Profit/loss (previous year) does not feed any calculation yet. The screen does not say which currency to use, and the size thresholds are in euro. The figures are not saved on reload.
The profile also shows the names of managers, owners and the beneficial owner as in the public register; for objections the screen gives [email protected]. It does not say as of which date the data is, and procurement totals are a lower bound.
Questions about the business financial health check
How do you assess a company's financial health?
Enter revenue, profit, assets, equity, liabilities and headcount from the annual statements. The tool works out six ratios and a score from 0 to 100, and marks each ratio Good, Caution or Risk.
How to check a Bulgarian company by its EIK?
Type the EIK into the public procurement section and press Check public procurement. A Commercial Register profile appears under the field.
What is current ratio?
Current assets divided by current liabilities: whether a company can cover what it owes within a year. The tool marks it Good from 1.5 and Risk below 1.0, by its own thresholds.
Which currency do I enter the figures in?
The screen does not name one. The ratios do not depend on it, but the company size uses thresholds in euro, so enter euro.
