What pneumatic 3D models are here
This is a free online tool from EduFacturing that shows catalogue parts for pneumatics in 3D: cylinders, grippers, valves, push-in fittings, mounting parts and a grease nipple. Each item is a ready CAD model you can turn and download, and 19 of them come apart into parts.
There are five categories: Cylinders (38 items, with the grippers), Mounting (8), Valves (2), Fittings push-in (8) and Oilers (1). Every item has a teaching card with the principle, formula and use, and an engineering check panel.
A cylinder, gripper or fitting as STL and STEP
Gives 57 pneumatic parts with a 3D model
Cylinders and grippers, clevises, brackets and slide bases for mounting, a 5/2 valve and a Festo CPE manifold, push-in fittings and a DIN 71412 grease nipple. The brands include SMC and Festo. Each model is marked as 1:1 from catalogue CAD.
Gives the catalogue's sizes
The ISO 6432 mini cylinders come in bores Ø8, Ø10, Ø12, Ø16, Ø20 and Ø25, each with 20 strokes from 0 to 500 mm. The 5/2 valve has a G⅛, G¼, G⅜ or G½ port, and the straight and swivel elbow fittings each have 23 tube and thread combinations.
Takes the cylinders apart
17 cylinders are assemblies of 2 to 9 parts, and 2 more mounting assemblies also come apart. A checkbox in front of each part hides or shows it. The parts are labelled by size, for example “Part 1, ~194 mm”, and only the Festo DNC has names.
Downloads an STL, 3MF and STEP file
Every item downloads as STL and 3MF. “Download STEP (CAD)” appears for 49 of the 57 items, those whose catalogue has a STEP file.
When you need a pneumatic cylinder 3D model
One part has to be right in the drawing, on the desk and in the assembly.
An automation project
A designer puts a cylinder, a gripper and a valve into the drawing at the catalogue envelope.
A lesson on pneumatics
A student takes a cylinder apart and compares the single-acting MHL2-25D1 gripper with the double-acting MHL2-25D2.
A mock-up of the frame
A bracket, clevis or slide base prints as STL to see how it sits on the frame.
Choosing a fitting
The list shows only the catalogue's combinations: Ø16 comes only with G⅜ and G½, with no M5.
How you pick a part and download the model
The tool does not calculate anything. It limits the choice to the catalogue and shows a ready model. This is how one item works.
Category
You pick one of the five categories and an item from its list.
Variant
The drop-down offers only the catalogue's variants: stroke, bore, port or a tube and thread combination. The magnetic sensor is a checkbox and takes effect only for the strokes that have such a model.
Model
A ready catalogue model is loaded. Assemblies keep their coordinates and single parts are centred.
Check and card
The panel states the type of the part and its origin, and the card gives the principle, formula and use.
| Applies to | Formula | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Cylinder force | F = p · π·D²/4 | p is the pressure, D the piston bore; text on the card, not calculated |
| Push-in, tube Ø4 and Ø6 | M5, M6, G⅛, G¼, G⅜ | threads of the straight and swivel elbow fittings |
| Push-in, tube Ø8 and Ø10 | G⅛, G¼, G⅜, G½ | no metric thread |
| Push-in, tube Ø12 | G¼, G⅜, G½ | three threads |
| Push-in, tube Ø16 | G⅜, G½ | only the large threads |
Catalogue CAD, not an approximation; the brands include SMC and Festo
The model comes from the catalogue
The panel states for every item: “1:1 CAD from a real catalogue (SolidWorks → STEP → mesh), not an approximation”.
A cylinder is viewed part by part
17 cylinders open with a checkbox for each part, not as one solid.
Despite the name, the library is about pneumatics: there are no hydraulic cylinders, pumps or valves in it. The tool does not calculate pressure, flow, force or consumption, does not choose a cylinder by load and does not check whether two parts fit.
A printed model is for a mock-up, a fixture and teaching. Do not use it as a pressure part. STEP exists for 49 of the 57 items.
Pneumatic cylinder 3D model questions
Which pneumatic cylinders are in the library?
ISO 6432 mini cylinders (Ø8 to Ø25, SMC C85N and CD85N, Festo DSNU). Also ISO 15552 profile cylinders (SMC CP96, Festo DSBC and DNC), ISO 21287 compact cylinders (Festo ADN), rodless Ø40, Ø80 and Ø125, a YR3050 rotary actuator and SMC JA80, JCM, JMDBB and CQ2.
Can I download a STEP file of a pneumatic cylinder?
Yes, for 49 of the 57 items: “Download STEP (CAD)” appears next to STL and 3MF. There is none for the Festo DNC, the rodless cylinders, the circlip, the T and Y fittings and the quick connector.
What is the difference between single acting and double acting?
On the gripper, the MHL2-25D1 is single-acting: air moves the fingers one way and a spring returns them. The MHL2-25D2 is double-acting: air moves them both ways. Both are in the library.
How many strokes does the mini cylinder have?
Twenty: 0, 10, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 75, 80, 100, 125, 150, 160, 175, 200, 250, 300, 320, 400 and 500 mm. A magnetic sensor variant exists at Ø10 to Ø25 for every stroke except 0 mm.
What is a push-in fitting and what threads does it have?
A fitting for a pneumatic tube that connects by pushing the tube in. Ø4 and Ø6 have M5, M6, G⅛, G¼ and G⅜, Ø8 and Ø10 have G⅛ to G½, Ø12 has G¼, G⅜ and G½, and Ø16 only G⅜ and G½, with no M5.
How to calculate pneumatic cylinder force?
F = p · π·D²/4, where p is the pressure and D the piston bore. This is text on the card: the tool does not calculate force.
Is it free to download a pneumatic cylinder 3D model?
Yes. Without an account the tool opens 3 times a day. A free account removes the limit.
