How do I make a barcode online for free?

Which barcode type should I choose?
EAN-13 for products in a shop, EAN-8 for small packs, UPC-A for North America, ITF-14 for shipping cartons, CODE 128 for SKUs, serial numbers and internal logistics, CODE 39 for older industrial systems. The table above gives the length and the check digit of each.
What is a check digit and how is it calculated?
The last digit of EAN, UPC and ITF-14 is calculated from the others, so a scanner can reject a misread. From the right the digits are weighted 3, 1, 3, 1 and added up, and the digit that brings the sum to a multiple of 10 is the check digit. For 978020137962 it is 4, which gives 9780201379624. Type one digit fewer and the page adds it; type a wrong one and it shows the calculated digit.
How do I make many barcodes at once?
Switch to Batch. Use a range (prefix, from, to, zero padding, suffix), for example SKU-001 to SKU-050, or paste a list with one value per line. Up to 50 are free and up to 300 need Pro. Download a ZIP of PNG files or print them on one sheet. The page counts the valid rows as you type and shows the first error; invalid rows are left out.
PNG or SVG?
PNG is a pixel image, good for printing and sharing; this page makes it at twice the preview size. SVG is vector: it scales without loss, which suits packaging, banners and laser engraving. Both have a white background.
How big should a printed barcode be?
Size is set by the module, the narrowest bar, not by the total width. For EAN and UPC the GS1 nominal module is 0.33 mm and the minimum is 0.264 mm. The page shows your module in millimetres at 203 and 300 dpi and flags it when it falls below the minimum. The table above lists every symbology.
Do I need to register a number for EAN-13?
For products sold through retail chains the number must come from GS1, which issues company prefixes. This page does not issue numbers. For your own stock, shelves or documents, CODE 128 with any unique value needs no registration.
Is the generator free, and is my data uploaded?
It is free: three downloads a day, batches up to 50, no account. Pro, 15 EUR a month, removes the daily limit and allows batches up to 300. The barcode is drawn in your browser. The only message sent to our server is the download counter: the tool name, a random identifier of your browser and the page language.
Can I put a barcode on a 3D print?
