DLP (Digital Light Processing)

Similar to SLA, but it uses a digital projector to expose an entire layer at once. Extremely fast and highly detailed.

How it works

1. Positioning

The build platform sinks into the liquid photopolymer resin to an extremely precise distance from the bottom.

2. Digital projection

A DLP projector (via a DMD chip with thousands of micromirrors) projects the ENTIRE layer at once as a 2D pixelated image.

3. Instant exposure

The projected UV light cures the entire cross section at once, making the process extremely fast regardless of how many parts are on the platform.

4. Peeling

The platform separates from the FEP film, letting the heavier resin flow back into the space underneath for the next exposure.

5. Post-processing

The part is washed in ethanol or IPA, then baked in a UV chamber to reach maximum elastic modulus.
