Material Selector

Find the right filament, resin, or powder

One wrong material choice can kill a project. PLA softens at 60°C - NOT suitable for a car dashboard. ABS is tough but needs an enclosed body. PETG is the sweet spot - but not for optics. The Wizard asks 5-6 questions (application, temperature, mechanics, chemistry, budget, technology) and recommends 2-3 materials with specific manufacturers and prices. Covers 50+ materials from thermoplastics to metal powders.

Available with the Pro plan (15 EUR per month). The printed book includes 3 months of Pro.

Key features

50+ materials

PLA, ABS, PETG, nylon, ASA, PC, TPU, PEEK, ULTEM, carbon composites, glass composites, all resins (standard, tough, castable, clear, flexible, bio), powders (PA12, PA11, TPU, ESD), metals (titanium, stainless, Inconel, aluminum, cobalt-chrome).

By application, not by brand

The wizard thinks about how you'll use the material - functional prototype, toy, certified dental implant, robot EOAT - and recommends the right answer.

Temperature awareness

Outdoor (UV)? Near a heat source? Up to 60°C, 100°C, 200°C? The wizard filters by real conditions.

Mechanical properties

Impact strength, flexural strength, ductility, fatigue resistance. The wizard recommends the right combination.

Concrete brands and prices

Polymaker PolyMide PA6-CF €80/kg. Formlabs Tough 2000 €250/liter. Bambu Lab PLA Matte €25/kg. Real numbers.

How it works

  1. 1Application: functional prototype, toy, jewelry, dental crown, miniature, EOAT, concept model.
  2. 2Technology: FDM, MSLA, SLA, SLS, DMLS, PolyJet - filter for each.
  3. 3Temperature: what temperature will the final part see?
  4. 4Mechanics: load? Impacts? Short- or long-term use?
  5. 5Chemistry: contact with solvents? Acids? Bases? Food?
  6. 6Budget: €15/kg (eSUN PLA) or €500/kg (PEEK)? There's a solution for every budget.
  7. 7Result: 2-3 specific materials + brands + prices + usage scenarios.

Who it's for

Beginner

The wizard saves you €30-€100 on bad choices. Your first 3-5 materials are vetted before you buy.

Functional-parts engineer

EOAT, bearing housings, load-bearing brackets - the wizard knows exactly which resin or blend fits.

Dental lab

MDR / FDA certifications are critical. The wizard only shows certified materials for patient use.

Jeweler

Castable resin with clean burnout (Formlabs Castable Wax 40, Siraya Castable) - the wizard knows the difference.

Frequently asked

Are there bio-materials?

Yes - PA11 (bio-derived Nylon), PLA (from corn starch), biocompatible resins (Formlabs BioMed Amber). The wizard filters by biocompatibility.

Does it recommend custom materials?

The wizard only uses established, market-available materials. For custom - direct consultation with Krasi.

How often are prices updated?

Reviewed quarterly. Check with your local distributor for current numbers.

Why isn't Sunlu PLA recommended?

The wizard focuses on quality brands. Sunlu and similar econ brands are acceptable for hobby but not for functional prototypes.
